There are a few basic principles that guide me when I am searching for art for my own home and when working with my clients that I want to share with you as you see works you may be considering for your space. If you are a novice or even if you are an experienced buyer on the verge of exploring a genre you are not familiar with, it can be overwhelming. I understand – art can be intimidating with so many artists, galleries, auctions, etc. You can have the most beautiful architecture or furniture but until you layer in meaningful pieces, items that are special to you, it is not complete. “There is nothing that brings a space ALIVE like a fabulous piece of art whether that be a painting, sculpture, or even a collection. But I don't expect this gun to fetch a premium over a stock P6 in similar condition, or even worse condition.Phillip Thomas, Bonhams Skinner’s Designer in Residence, and Founder of Phillip Thomas Inc., speaks on art in your home with pieces from our JModern & Contemporary Art auction.

I would pay the same price for your gun if you return it to stock config and you keep all the aftermarket parts.Ĭeracoat cannot be removed. I wouldn't pay for the extra stuff you added onto a gun. So while the value of the gun increased, you are still going to lose big after your cost to get it there. But will they pay the $500-$800 you just put into it? No.

If you have CGW put a whole pro package in your SP-01, pay the cost for shipping, then have it cerakoted whatever color, someone will probably pay a couple hundred more than market value for a stock gun (technically, that is an increase in resale value). I think when most people say that it will not increase the resale value, they mean cost of the gun + cost of the modifications.

These same cats likely want you to throw in the 3 extra mags you bought as well - for the original cost.

Put on night sights, change to better trigger, change to extended release, they act like no mods are good and always bad and so, you should sell it to them without considering the cost of the mods you put into it.

They are often the guys that use that tactic to try to act like, "oh your mods don't matter to me" and want you to throw them all in for free at the original cost of the gun. Ps - in threads like this, where people act like anything you do to a gun decreases value is BS. Get a pro.īut there is so much nonsense in this thread. And who does it can matter, a pro or backyard job. You do something nice like an OD or FDE and such. If you do something stupid like a pink AR15, then yeah, bad call. That being said, it certainly does matter what color. He increased the value to me as he did the leg work and effort and cost and time to get it done - I didn t have to. It 100% improved a buy for a 1911 I did because the guy choose an awesome burnt bronze. Given it has been professionally applied and most would consider it attractive looking. If selling on consignment at a shop, you may be more successful with it refinished.

So if selling using the net, original condition may be best. LNIB should always stay this way if considered a desirable handgun. So members here get exposed to a variety of refinished firearms.

This group is the minority as it relates to what frequents gun shops. The audience here on this forum and others are typically more informed or more passionate about firearms. Overwhelmingly the clients that come here have no idea what is cerakoat. I am in a gun shop every day during the week. It will mostly depend on who your target audience will be. I realize it's ultimately an 'eye of the beholder' sort of question so there can't be "the" answer Next question - same handgun, but some wear and scuff marks If you Cerakote it just to coat it, have you affected the resale? Up or down? Let's take a Top End pistol like a P30, LNIB
